Boycotting Bama Kahalacha--At Least for Now
People blast Warner Music Group for disabling the audio on videos whenever WMG claims a copyright infringement.

At least You Tube/WMG deletes only the audio track. Not the case with Bama Kahalacha Israevents, LTD. I had my original video on You Tube for about three years without a problem. I recently decided to remake the video in HD. The video portion was entirely mine. But instead of You Tube deleting the audio after Kahalacha filed a copyright infringement, they removed the entire video and put a strike against my account, threatening to delete the entire account and remove all of my videos. Thanks a lot Bama Kahalacha Israevents LTD.

I won't purchase another Avraham Fried CD, and I will check the music label on other CDs before I purchase them to avoid Kahalacha.

The same goes for Warner Music Group! But I do give them minimal credit for only deleting the audio, when I own the copyright to the video/still pictures.

Then there's another music label that likes to delete videos entirely--Keshet. Mind you, Noam Jacobson's beautiful rendition of Halleluya was on You Tube, he performs it. Yet the You Tube video was entirely removed because of a copyright infringement complaint by Keshet. That one floors me since the site the music is on, Reberbnation allows free downloads of music. In fact, Animoto and One True Media often get their music from such sites so that there are no copyright issues.

I removed thet video, since I did not want Keshet to claim copyright infringement on my You Tube account. I don't know how many strikes you can get before You Tube wipes out everything, including ALL of your videos, even the one's without copyright objections.

A special thank you to Noam for all of your beautiful pre-Latma music. You're incredible.

And while I am posting on Jewish musicians--thank you to Yacov Young.

A special thank you to Rocky Ziegler (Yerachmiel) for actually contacting me about doing a video to his wonderful Chanukah song Chasof. Since I had his permission, I kept his video up.

Sadly, I decided to remove Uzi Chitman's gorgeous rendition of  Adon Olam. I had that video up since 2008 without any problems but then all of a sudden there was a copyright notice. I hated to remove it.

I also removed a couple of secular songs on my second You Tube channel that had copyright notices, even though the notices said no action was required on my part.

So no more videos with music on either of my You Tube channels for a while. This is the last one I made, featuring the track from the movie ALIVE. The song is called, "It's G-d."

The song I used for my Chanukah video was also from ALIVE. But as I have often written, It's G-d very special to me, so I hope You Tube doesn't pull the plug on me for posting it. I posted initially as private to see how it would look in HD. I made it public now. Hopefully it won't shut down my second You Tube channel.

Email from You Tube:

Well, didn't Bama Kahalacha Israevents infringe on MY copyright in having video shot by me and copyrighted to me removed???

I am utterly disgusted with Bama Kahalacha right now, and You Tube in general. So the following video will be my last for a while. The music is from the film ALIVE. The song? What else?

It's G-d

I shot this video on an unusual day in my neck of the woods. Last Monday and Tuesday it was snowing and the temperature at dawn was only three-degrees. By Thursday/Friday the sun was out and the temperatures soared to 50-degrees.

I wanted to add more video clips and pictures to the video. The one I posted on You Tube, to see how it would look in HD, was a tenative one. Since I haven't received a copyright complaint yet, I will keep it on. No more music on You Tube for a while. Please watch this in HD, if you decide to watch it.

If you've seen the movie and have heard this song before you'll know exactly why the song is called It's G-d.

Anyway...an amazing winter day here.
